Artis goes with Oregon

Another top 100 prospect is off the board. Dominic Artis is headed to Oregon.

It didn't take Dominic Artis long to find a new home.

After decommitting from UCLA shortly after they picked up a commitment from Kyle Anderson, Artis jumped right back into the recruiting process. He committed to Oregon late Sunday night.

Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep coach Mike Peck confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"I think when the Kyle Anderson commitment happened it made him think a lot about the process and basically kind of look at his decision more closely," Peck said.

"I think he wanted to re-evaluate his situation, he and his family," Peck added. "So that's what he did. He felt very comfortable with Oregon's situation and their outlook and how he would fit in. There's a level of comfort up there and he's close friend with Jabari [Brown].

Kansas, Memphis and others tried to get in the mix, but ultimately Dan Altman and his staff own out. Artis' friendship with Brown was a major factor in his decision.

"In addition to being somewhere he could play and be a part of and fit a need, with Jabari it was another thing that added to the icing on the cake so to speak," Peck told Scout.com.

Since being at Findlay, Artis, a four-star prospect, has made his presence felt on the defensive end.

"He's been doing a really nice job defensively for us," he said. "He's starting to grasp how to be a help defender and not taking any segments off defensively."

Artis is ranked No. 63 overall in Scout.com's 2012 top 100.
