Notre Dame lands another in 2013

Notre Dame now has a second commitment in the 2013 class.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are off to a strong start in the 2013 class. Only weeks after landing a talented four-star wing in V.J. Beachem, the Irish struck again, this time with Steve Vasturia out of Philadelphia (PA) St. Joseph's Prep.

At 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, Vasturia is a gifted passer, a very good shooter, and someone who understands how to play the game of basketball. He had an impressive summer running with the Jersey Shore Warriors, and now according to AAU coach Tony Sagona Vasturia is off the board.

"He committed to Notre Dame," said Sagona of his star wing.

"When he was out on his visit he just fell in love with the school," Sagona explained. "We had Matt Carroll play for us and also Kyle McAlarney played in our program, so there is some familiarity with Notre Dame. Also assistant coach Martin Ingelsby did a great job of recruiting him."

Along with the Fighting Irish, schools such as Virginia, Georgetown, Stanford, Northwestern, and Penn State all were in the mix with Vasutria.

An excellent student, Sagona says that the academics at Notre Dame played a big part in his decision.

"He was looking at a lot of factors, but academics were very important," said Sagona. "Notre Dame is a great institution and that was a big deal to him."

Beachem and Vasturia are now the two pledges for the Irish in the 2013 class. Look for the Irish to try and add at least one more target into the mix.
