Haughton goes with the Gamecocks

South Carolina continued their recruiting success in the South. The Gamecocks went to Florida and pulled out another commitment.

There's a theme developing with South Carolina's 2012 recruiting class.

For the third time this year the Gamecocks went south to Florida and pulled out a talented prospect. This time around Darrin Horn and company picked up a commitment from Tyrone Haughton.

"I'm a Gamecock baby," Haughton, a standout at Miami (Fla.) Krop told Scout.com minutes after his commitment.

"I really loved their team," he said. "They all get along well. I really had a good time there. I really think I can fit in. I just love their team. I kind of wanted to stay in the south too."

Haughton, a 6-foot-9, 205-pound big man, said he developed a strong relationship with Horn and South Carolina assistant Neill Berry.

"He's a real good man," Haughton said. "I really got to know coach Horn. He's like a younger father to me."

"He's like a big uncle to me," he said of Berry. "Our relationship is really good."

When asked what stood out about the Gamecocks, Haughton was quick to answer.

"Every single thing," he said. "I can't explain it really."

Haughton, who was also considering schools like Alabama, Marshall, Virginia Tech and others, said South Carolina was with him throughout he recruiting process.

"After the visit, it took me like two weeks after the visit [to know where I wanted to go], Haughton said. "Some other schools recruiting me backed off, so it made me realize some of them were using me and I knew South Carolina really wanted me."

Haughton joins Arlington (Fla.) Country Day standouts Carlos Morris and Ian Baker to make up the Gamecocks current 2012 recruiting class.
