Lucas' decision approaching

Portland (Ore.) Westview 2012 center Landen Lucas is down to four...

Portland (Ore.) Westview center Landen Lucas has cut his list down to four schools and it won't be long until he narrows it down to one.

"Right now I'm just taking my visits," Lucas tells "There aren't any favorites right now, but hopefully I have a good feeling about one of them once I finish my last visit."

That last visit will take place this weekend.

"I'll be at Washington on November 5th," Lucas reports. "When I go to Washington, I'll probably just be looking to see how I like the environment and stuff. I already know I like Coach Romar, the way they play, and the constant good teams that they have up there."

"Now I'm really just trying to see how I'd fit in. If I would enjoy myself walking from class to practice and see if I have a good vibe about the campus and everything that Washington has to offer. I'll be looking for more off the court stuff than anything, to see if I would fit in there."

Washington joins Stanford, California, and Tennessee in Lucas' final four, all of which have received official visits.

"The Tennessee visit was first and that was good," Lucas recalls. "I didn't know what to expect going all the way out to the East Coast and I liked what I saw. I had a good time out there and got along with the coaches and players real well."

Unlike Tennessee, Lucas had an idea of what he'd be in for on his trip to Berkeley.

"Cal was good," he shares. "I had been there on an unofficial before, so I kind of knew a little about what to expect. The biggest thing I saw there was just Montgomery; I got to see him coach a practice and see how he uses his bigs and stuff."

The most recent of Lucas' visits was to another school in the Bay Area.

"Stanford was great; I had a good time," says Lucas, who reports a 3.7 GPA. "I got to go down there and check out the campus with my mom and dad. It's a beautiful campus and I was able to see a practice there as well. I got to hang out with the team and stuff so that was also a good visit for me."

The Huskies will have several successful visits to compete with as they host the three-star center this weekend.

They will also have the opportunity to make an impression on the senior who hopes to weigh out his options for the last time upon returning from Seattle.

"I don't really have anyone in the lead," Lucas explains. "Obviously when you're on a visit, whatever school that is, is in the lead. But I can't get caught up in that. I have to sit down at the end of these four and really feel out each school to see the pros and cons for each one."

When is Lucas planning to pull the trigger?

"Hopefully before November 16th, which is the last day I can sign for the fall period," he answers. "That's been my goal all along, to try to get it done so that I can just enjoy senior year and not have to worry too much about it. That's the plan, things could go wrong and I might not know exactly where to go, but that's why I'm naming four for sure right now."
