Carter makes decision, picks Oregon

Ben Carter's college decision is in. He gave a verbal commitment to Dana Altman and his staff late Sunday night.

For the second time in as many weeks a prospect from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman made their college decision.

Last week Rosco Allen selected Stanford. Late Sunday night, Ben Carter informed Scout.com that he will play his college ball in the PAC-12 as well.

"My mind is made up," Carter told Scout.com. "I will be attending the University of Oregon next year."

Prior to making his decision, Carter, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward, had cut his list to Oregon, UNLV and Utah.

"I thought it was the best fit for me out of my final three schools," Carter said.

"I will be able to earn quality minutes as a freshman and I love where the program is headed. I can also get a great education and have the support of the city of Eugene," the talented forward added.

Carter's former high school teammate and close friend Johnathan Loyd is currently a sophomore at Oregon.

Dana Altman now has a pair of commitments in the 2012 recruiting class. Joining Carter is top 100 lead guard Dominic Artis. He committed to the Ducks a week ago.
