Taylor returning from injury

2013 Sierra Canyon point guard Jahmel Taylor has missed some time due to injury, but he's returning to the court. Here's an update on his previously fractured ankle and his recruitment.

After spending time on the sideline recovering from a fractured ankle, 6-foot-0, 160-pound Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon 2013 point guard Jahmel Taylor is happy to return to the court, where he'll try and help his team repeat as California Southern Section Division 5A champions.

Taylor feels good about where his ankle is at with the start of the season getting close.

"I'm feeling a lot better," Taylor said. "Coming back right now I feel pretty good. I've come along way."

One of the main objectives for Taylor heading into his junior year will be becoming more of a true point guard.

"I'm really working on being a point guard and being a leader out there, giving my team the best opportunity to win," he said.

"I'm just gonna keep doing the best I can. I feel like I've done great. I'm constantly working, studying film and watching other point guards to learn how to be a better leader, run a team and make the right pass."

Taylor lists scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Oregon, USC, Colorado, Washington State and SMU but right now there are no leaders in his recruitment.

"Right now everything is open," Taylor said. "I'm thankful for all of the schools that have given me an opportunity with the offers as well as the schools that are interested in me. I'm going to keep working hard and let it come to me."

There's no rush for Taylor at this point.

"I'll probably wait until my senior year to make my decision with my family," he said. "Ultimately it's about what's best for my family and best for me. What's most important is who has the better opportunity and offers the best education with that opportunity."
