2014 Intro: Casey Benson

2014 Arizona point guard Casey Benson is already getting recruiting attention and grew up rooting for an in-state school.

The state of Arizona is home to several promising young prospects and one of the better point guards in the state's 2014 class is 6-foot-3, 170-pound Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol point guard Casey Benson.

Benson is a smart point guard who can knock down the three and does a good job of getting into the lane and finding open teammates.

"I love getting my teammates involved and making plays for others, like getting in the lane and kicking out," Benson said. "I'm always working on my defense, you can always get better there.

"I'm always trying to get better. I always want to keep working and be the best player I can be."

So far, Benson has heard from Arizona State, St. Mary's, Gonzaga, U.C. Irvine and USC.

He grew up rooting for the Sun Devils.

"I've always liked ASU," Benson said. "I've been going to games since I was six or seven. I've always liked that program. I grew up watching them and I like their style of play, they get up and down and are up-tempo. I like the way they play a lot."

Benson has enjoyed getting to know the Arizona State coaching staff.

"I've been developing a great relationship with all of the coaches," he said. "They're all really great guys and I like the coaches a lot."
