Bennett concentrated on season

Don't expect to hear too much regarding Anthony Bennett's recruitment in the near future. The five-star prospect's coach gives Scout.com an update on his recruitment.

One of the most mysterious recruitments in 2012 belongs to 6-foot-7, 230-pound Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep power forward Anthony Bennett.

Bennett has narrowed his school list to nine - Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, UNLV, Washington and West Virginia - but beyond that, not much progress has been made in his recruitment.

"His school list of nine hasn't changed and his recruiting situation pretty much remains the same," said Findlay Prep assistant Todd Simon. "He's not really budging or making a lot of progress right now."

According to Simon, Bennett's recruitment hasn't been so quiet because he's keeping things close to the vest, but rather because he truly hasn't concentrated on it yet.

"I don't think he's thinking about where he's going to go or what he's going to do right now," he said. "He knows that he has a lot of good options and that those options aren't going anywhere. When the day comes to worry about recruiting, then he'll try to find the right fit."

Simon does anticipate Bennett eventually chopping his list down.

"At some point he's going to have to prioritize his list," he said. "I'm sure there will come a time when he becomes more involved with this. Coaching changes, NBA departures and transfers will help sort things out for him too."

As of now, Bennett doesn't figure to take the next step in his recruitment for several months.

"He'll wait until his spring," said Simon. "He's very committed to working on his game and worrying about practices and games. He's not putting a whole lot of focus on recruiting."
