OSU Gets Top Billings

Ohio State finally owns a commitment from the guy it wanted all along. Winger Ricardo Billings committed to the staff over Michigan State and said that OSU is the place he wished to be at all along.

OSU Gets Top Billings

"That's where I always wanted to go," Ricardo Billings said of his interest in Ohio State. "I felt real comfortable with the situation. I liked the coaches a lot. When I was young, my friend and I thought we were going to be the next Scoonie Penn and Michael Redd."

The 6-4 swingman from Detroit (MI) Rogers Academy also considered Michigan State. "At one point, [deciding] was real hard because they had evened off and Michigan State stepped in real hard. I like Michigan State a lot. It was hard making up my mind, but not too long ago it got a little bit easier."

When it got easier for Billings, he pulled the trigger. At Nike Camp, we wrote that he would commit shortly after the end of camp and that's exactly what happened. Currently, Billings is nursing an injury. He missed most of the Nike Camp with a pulled calf muscle. The injury could force him to miss Five-Star. However, he'll likely be ready for AAU pool play in the nationals later this month in Orlando.

Last year, Billings averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds en route to earning first team all-state honors.
