Brandon Randolph, 6-1 JR PG/SG Playa Del Rey (Calif.) St. Bernard, is one of the top guard prospects in the west for 2013. A terrific athlete, with a very good basketball body, Randolph has above-average ball skills and a chance to play either spot at the next level.

I spoke with Randolph recently and asked about the schools that have been in touch with him.

"San Diego State has offered," said Randolph. "I'm also hearing from Texas A&M, Arizona, USC, UCLA, Oregon and some others."

I asked Randolph what he's looking for in a school.

"An offense that I can see myself in, the coaching style and someplace that is a good fit where I feel comfortable," said Randolph.

When asked if location or early playing time are a big deal to him, Randolph said, "the location isn't that important, but my dad is a little older and I wouldn't mind staying closer to him. But I'll go anywhere that is the right fit. Early playing time doesn't really matter too much. I just want to go someplace where I can become a good player and develop."

Randolph has been to local schools USC and UCLA for camps, but said he plans on taking an unofficial visit later this month.

"We'll be in San Diego for a tournament after Christmas, so I will be visiting San Diego State while I'm down there," said Randolph.

Randolph said he's in no hurry to pick a school.

"I think I'm going to wait until after the summer, sometime early in my senior year," said Randolph. "I haven't really thought too much about schools yet."

When asked if he had a dream school growing up, Randolph replied, "someplace like Kentucky or Kansas."

Randolph said he has a 3.1 GPA.
