City of Palms: Recruiting Notebook

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- On Monday at the City of Palms Scout.com caught up with three top 100 players -- Savon Goodman, Jabari Bird & Jaren Sina -- to discuss their current recruiting situations.

Goodman taking his time

Former Villanova commit Savon Goodman isn't rushing into a college decision.

In fact, Goodman seems more concerned with making sure he stays on top of his academics than diving back into the recruiting process.

"I'm focused on school and grades," Goodman said following a loss to Branche (Fla.) Ely at the City of Palms tournament.

Goodman did list Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova, St. John's, USC, UCLA, Arizona and Memphis as schools that were showing interest.

"I know I want to visit UCLA and Arizona," he added.

Bird favors three

Jabari Bird has a few schools at the top of his list.

"My favorite three schools are California, Arizona and Washington," the five-star scoring guard told Scout.com following Salesian's win over Louisville (Ky.) Trinity on Monday.

Bird cited California's location as his reason for having them in his top three. When asked about Arizona and Washington he said he liked their coaching staffs.

Bird also mentioned Oregon and UCLA as schools involved in his recruitment. He said all five schools have offered him a scholarship.

The 6-foot-6 wing prospect is ranked No. 17 overall in the 2013 class.

Offers keep rolling in for Sina

Since opening up his recruitment, Jaren Sina has seen the offers roll in.

The former Alabama commit now holds scholarship offers from Miami, Penn State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Virginia, St. John's, Cincinnati and Alabama.

A four-star guard out of Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard, Sina said he was excited about his most recent offer – Virginia.

"I'm going to Virginia next month probably," Sina told Scout.com during Gill St. Bernard's off day at the City of Palms.

With that said, Sina, Scout.com's No. 14 point guard in the 2013 class, said the recruiting process isn't is main focus.

"Not really," he said when asked if he was thinking about the process much. "I'm just focused on my high school [season]."

Sina is ranked No. 58 overall in the 2013 class.
