Hamilton enjoying new school

Isaac Hamilton is off to a big start to his junior season. He talks to Scout.com about his recruitment and progression as a player.

One of the nation's best scorers in 2013, 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard Isaac Hamilton, is transitioning to a new high school after transferring from Crenshaw (Calif.) to Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco.

The season has gone well for Hamilton and St. John Bosco, who have gotten off to a good start in November and December.

"We're 9-2 now," Hamilton said. "We have to get back in the lab so we can go undefeated from here on out. But everything is great. School-wise everything is good and I'm getting better.

"I'm becoming a better point guard, looking for my players, playing the pick and roll, scoring and basically doing everything I can for this team."

Hamilton says he's in no hurry to make a decision but his recruitment is starting to become nation-wide.

"Big East schools like UConn and Louisville are coming out now but basically it's the same schools keeping updated with me," he said. "I'm not in a rush. I'm a junior and still have this season, the summer and next year. I'll be good."

Schools recruiting Hamilton the hardest include Colorado, San Diego State, Arizona, USC, UCLA, California, UConn, Louisville, UTEP and San Francisco, but Hamilton isn't naming favorites right now.

"I'm at the same right now," Hamilton said. "I can't even say. I've just been working on my game and letting everything else happen. I'm going to wait until the summer time and by the time that comes have a new list."

Hamilton did recently take an unofficial visit to San Diego State, which he enjoyed.

"Great school, great environment, coaching staff, everything," Hamilton said of the Aztecs. "It's not far from home but there's a little distance so I can have my space. I like the crowd and the fans; I liked everything."

There aren't any scheduled visits on the horizon for Hamilton, although he does hope to check out another West Coast school this season.

"I'm looking forward to going to Arizona later on this season," he said. "I don't have a date but I'm going to go there for a big game."
