Pierce Hears from Top Schools

The 6-6 shooting guard from Oakland, Tim Pierce, is hearing from some top schools -- programs from the Pac-10, Big Ten and Big 12 -- and has a couple of offers. He also said he has a time frame on when he'd make a commitment...

Tim Pierce, 6-6 JR SG, Oakland (Calif.) Fremont, is a prospect that has many college coaches intrigued. With good size, athleticism and a good outside jumper it's easy to see why. Pierce, if he learns how to play within a team concept and plays some defense, has a chance to be a nice prospect.

On the recruiting front, Pierce said he is hearing from the likes of Indiana, Arizona State, Oregon, Texas and DePaul, while he also said he's been contacted by Kentucky. He said that both ASU and DePaul had offered him a scholarship, and that coaches from both of those two schools as well as Oregon and Oklahoma State came by Fremont High School to watch Pierce work out during the April evaluation period.

"But I think it's still really early and I don't really have a favorite," Pierce said.

Pierce also said he does have a loose time frame to make a commitment. "I'd like to start taking my official visits in August and then make my decision by November."

According to Pierce, he has a 3.3 GPA and scored an 840 on the SAT.
