Fischer gives verbal to Indiana

Indiana now has three commitments in the 2013 recruiting class. Tom Crean picked up a verbal commitment from four-star recruit Luke Fischer.

Tom Crean scored big on and off the court on Saturday.

Shortly after knocking off Ohio State, Crean and the Hoosiers picked up a verbal pledge from 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward Luke Fischer.

"I talked to coach Crean after the game and it just felt right," Fischer told "I wanted to be part of this team."

Fischer also strongly considered Iowa and Creighton. Ultimately it was Fischer's relationship with Crean that really pushed Indiana over the top.

"We had a lot to talk about," he said. "He lived in the town right next to me and one of my friends lived right by him. We have so many connections with each other. It makes everything so much easier."

Growing up in Wisconsin, Fischer was quite familiar with Crean when he was at Marquette.

"I think it's a real good relationship," he said of Crean. "I knew coach Crean back when he was at Marquette. I went to his basketball camp in the 5th grade. I got a picture with him and an autograph.

"It's funny how he actually remembers," Fischer added. "He swears he remembers me."

Indiana now has three verbal commitments for the 2013 recruiting class. Fischer joins Indiana natives Devin Davis and Colin Hartman to make up their current class.

Fischer, of Germantown (Wisc.) High, is ranked No. 96 overall in the 2013 recruiting class.
