Soph Smith Headed To Big Ten

Jarrett Smith made a verbal commitment this week. He's staying close to home and will play in the Big Ten.

Westland Glenn sophomore point guard Jarrett Smith committed to Michigan Tuesday night, according to his AAU coach Durand "Speedy" Walker.

Glenn travels with The Family AAU tea. In the past few seasons, The Family has been good to the Wolverines. Michigan already has commitments from two members of the team.

2004 swing standouts Ronald Coleman and Joe Crawford are already committed to play in Ann Arbor.

This past season, Smith had a game in which he scored 13 points, had 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

"He defends well and has a real strong body," Walker said. "He's a great football player also. He can handle it."

By all accounts, the Wolverines have added a guy that scores high in the character and work ethic departments. "He's got character and comes from a great family. He's coachable."
