Bennett down to five

Anthony Bennett is moving forward in his recruitment, cutting his school list down to five. Here's the latest on the five-star prospect.

2012 Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep power forward Anthony Bennett has taken the next step in his recruitment, narrowing his school list from nine schools to five.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound five-star prospect is down to Washington, Kentucky, Florida, UNLV and Oregon. Not making the cut were Connecticut, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

In December, Bennett told that he would begin taking official visits in February.

"I'll probably start thinking about it in January and see where it takes me from there," Bennett said.

At the time, Bennett said he was in no rush to make a decision.

"Late spring, probably after basketball season," he gave for a timetable.

Bennett's decision to narrow his school list is big news for all five programs still involved. A dominant player at the high school level, Bennett has the physical gifts and skill level necessary to make a big impact right away in college. currently ranks Bennett 9th in the 2012 class, but he's a strong candidate to move up in the next rankings updates.
