2012 Intro: Max Guercy

One of the top senior point guards in the state of California, Max Guercy, picked up his first offer this week.

There aren't too many leagues in the state of California as competitive as the Mission League and Mission Hills Alemany has pulled ahead of the pack into first place.

One of the reasons for that has been the play of 5-foot-9, 170-pound 2012 point guard Max Guercy.

"We're doing a pretty good job," Guercy said. "We'e 20-3. I'm trying to do a good job leading the team with Marqueze (Coleman). We want to win CIF and go for the state title."

Doing what it takes to help his team win is Guercy's biggest strength, he said.

"I just want to lead. On some nights I'll score and sometimes I'll focus on passing. I'm just trying to win," he said. "Right now I'm working on being a leader for my team. On the next level I want to be a vocal leader."

Guercy is fresh off an offer from Hartford, while he's also accumulating interest from Cal Poly, Columbia, Fairfield, Utah and Georgia Tech.

On Saturday, Guercy checked out the Utah game while the Utes were in Los Angeles to play USC and the Pac-12 school deployed two assistants to watch the senior play earlier that day.

When it comes time to make a decision, Guercy knows what's most important to him.

"I want to have a good relationship with the coach," he said. "Location isn't a factor; I'll play anywhere."
