Neal Has A Leader

Minneapolis Henry has a nice little pipeline plugged into the University of Oklahoma. Swingman Steven Neal could be the next recruit to head to Norman.

Steven Neal of Minneapolis Henry is having a tough time deciding what to do. "It's hard. It's like everybody has exactly what you're looking for. Everybody wants you to play the same position. Basically, I really want to come in and play and that's what everybody got for me."

And who is "everybody"? Well, "everybody" constitutes Oklahoma, Kansas State, Minnesota, Cincinnati and Michigan State. We can't verify that every school on the list has offered but some of them have and that's who Neal is targeting at this juncture.

Most of the programs are recruiting him as a two guard or small forward. He's a terrific athlete who can handle the ball some too. "I want to come in and give the team something." And in turn, he wants to come in and play right away. That's important to him.

Right now, Oklahoma has a lead for him. "I think I'm like what Oklahoma is looking for. They're losing someone at my position by the time I come in. They're letting me know the position is open and saying it's up to me."

And the Sooners have help. Current OU players Johnnie Gilbert and Lawrence McKenzie each went to Henry High. "Johnnie speaks very highly of Oklahoma. He thinks it's a wonderful school. Lawrence tells me it's a great place to be."

At this point, Neal doesn't have any official visits set up. He's waiting on a test score to come back. He'll roll with Team Minnesota at the Three Stripes event and also at the Big Time. He'll attend ABCD Camp.
