Having grown three inches, he said, in the last year and half, combined with good athleticism and agility, makes Williams an intriguing post prospect. He still is very raw, still learning how to play basketball, but the raw physical and athletic foundation is there.
A few college coaching staffs had gotten a head start on Williams. "Colorado State, Iowa and UNLV have known about me," Williams said. "Coaches from those schools came out to see me play this last season." Williams said he averaged 16 points, 16 rebounds and 7 blocks a game as a junior.
When asked what other schools are showing interest, Williams said he left much of his recruitment up to his high school coach. "I get plenty of letters," he said. "I just don't know all the schools that are recruiting me."
When asked what school he'd realistically like to play for, he said. "I like Arizona State."
Williams said he's had some academic problems in the past and is trying to improve.
