High-Major schools track Greene

After a very strong year at IMG Academy, Brian Greene is receiving significant high-major attention.

At Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy senior Brian  Greene is having an excellent season. The Chicago native has thrived in his time at IMG, and now his recruitment is heating up with several high-major schools calling.

"He is a tough Chicago kid," said IMG Head Coach Vince Walden of Greene. "A tough guard who has earned the interest that he is getting. He has worked hard, gotten better, and has performed with the lights on."

Walden says that toughness he brings to the court is genuine and it is effective in the way that Greene plays.

"For us he is a toughness guy," said Walden. "He is a kid that has genuine toughness. It isn't a bravado thing, it is him saying he is going to win an individual battle every possession. He is determined to stay in front on defense, contest your shot, and box out. It's those things combined with an incredible work ethic that make him a great player."

Recruiting wise Walden says that many schools have been making their way down recently to check out Greene's progress.

"Auburn watched him (Thursday), Ole Miss has offered, South Florida has offered, Iowa I don't think has offered just yet, but it seems like they are going to, Nebraska has offered as well," said Walden. "He is definitely picking up a lot of interest."

At the moment no visits have been finalized, but Walden says Greene and the schools are beginning to work out the details of his upcoming trips.

"We have talked about visits," Walden explained. "The majority of the schools have talked to him about it. With it getting into the conference tournament play, in the next two weeks or so we will try to get them set up, but you have to be strategic. A couple of the schools like USF, which is right across the water from us, it might have to be an unofficial so he doesn't exhaust all of his visits. We are working to set them up to the schools where he has a genuine interest."

In terms of what he is looking for in a school, Walden says Greene is open to a lot of things, but wants a chance to compete.

"I think all kids want playing time," said Walden. "He is looking for a competitive situation where he can come in and earn his playing time. I think he has a few opportunities like that have presented themselves at the schools he is looking at. He is willing to come in and compete for minutes. Also he likes a team that plays with tempo and gets up and down the floor."
