Russell reopens recruitment

2012 point guard Dewayne Russell is revoking his pledge from USC and reopening his recruitment. He talks to about where his recruitment will go from here.

In December, USC landed a commitment from 5-foot-9, 160-pound Peoria (Ariz.) 2012 point guard Dewayne Russell, shortly after the Trojans gave him his first scholarship offer.

On Tuesday, Russell decided to open things up.

"I'm decommitting from USC and opening up my recruitment," Russell told "I appreciate everything they did for me but I just want to make sure that I go to the right place. I feel like I rushed my decision a little bit and didn't know how everything worked."

When Russell makes a decision this time around, he will be looking primarily at playing time.

"I'm looking for a school that I can come in and play right away," he said. "Any school that feels like they could use me and I can help them, I'm interested."

Russell is in no rush to find his next school.

"I'm going to take my time," he said.
