Sampson Getting Noticed

Fernando Sampson, 6-2 PG Los Angeles Fairfax, hasn't received a lot of national attention but coaches at the low to mid major level are aware of him. We talked with him recently about the schools expressing interest to this point.

Fernando Sampson, 6-2 PG Los Angeles Fairfax, had a solid showing at the recently West Coast All-Star Camp and he figures to draw interest from a number of schools at the low to mid major level.

We spoke with him recently and Fernando told us that he's been getting calls from Yale, Dartmouth, UTEP, Irvine, Portland and Sacramento St., among others.

We asked if he had any thoughts about going away vs. staying home and he said, "No, distance isn't really an issue."

When asked what factors he would consider, Sampson said, "The people in the organization, how they approach me and whether I think they're really going to look out for me. I'm not necessarily concerned with playing right away."

Fernando told us that he has a 3.5 GPA and scored 1020 on the SAT. He plans on taking the test again.
