Kemp Starting To Heat Up

The summer is great for unearthing guys and building reputations. Marcellus Kemp, a 6-4 guard from Seattle (WA) Garfield, is certainly working on increasing his stature. Last week at adidas ABCD Camp, Kemp opened some eyes with his play.

Kemp Getting Noticed

Marcellus Kemp, a SG/SF from Seattle, is finally receiving his due. Last week at ABCD, he was a standout who had college recruiters filing through their rosters in an attempt to find out who No. 89 was.

Well, No. 89 was Kemp, a well-built scoring swingman who shoots it well enough from deep and is strong enough to get himself points in the lane off the bounce. For his efforts in early July, he's rewarded with recruiting calls from both coasts.

So far, Oregon, Oregon State, UNLV, Seton Hall, Utah, Nevada and Gonzaga have placed calls telling him of their interest. "I could tell that some colleges want to offer and I know Gonzaga, Oregon and Oregon State will for sure.

The shooting guard/small forward, averaged 18 points a game at Seattle Garfield last season. In May, he played well at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, but was overshadowed by the Stewart Twins. His normal AAU team is Seattle Rotary and he'll be in Las Vegas for the Big Time and will also travel to Los Angeles later in the month for a tournament.
