Caupain has huge junior season

Troy Caupain put up strong numbers and lead Cosby (Va.) Midlothian through Districts and into the Region tournament. He's an emerging 2013 lead guard.

The 2013 class is filled with quality point guards. In all, 24 lead guards are ranked among's top 100 prospects.

And others continue emerge in the class.

Troy Caupain, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard, had a strong junior season and there's a buzz developing about him in Virginia.

A standout at Cosby (Va.) Midlothian, Caupain averaged 26 points, 12.9 rebounds and just over eight assists per game.

"We were district champs and we made it to the region and lost in the first round," Caupain told

"I play the one," he added when asked to describe his game. "I can get to the basket in any way, shape or form and I can knock down the jump shot."

Slowly, Caupain's recruitment has taken off. He has interest from Cincinnati, Missouri, Richmond, Virginia and Virginia. All five of the schools involved have gotten him to campus.

"I took unofficials to Cincinnati, Missouri, Virginia Tech and then UVA and Richmond," Caupain said.

‘The most recent on was Virginia Tech. It was good. They had a game. They played NC State."

Caupain said he currently doesn't hold any offers, as the schools are waiting for him to take the SAT. He was also quick to point out this is the beginning of the recruiting process for him.

"It's still the beginning because I'm young and I still have a whole AAU season to go," Caupain said. "I'm keeping my options open."

"I'm going to wait until after the AAU season is over," he added.

Caupain will run with Team Loaded on the spring and summer circuit.
