NY2LA Swish N Dish: Breakout Performers

As always is the case during the early part of the spring, numerous players really emerged and helped their stock with their play this weekend at the NY2LA Swish N Dish.

Size: 7-7/185 |
Quick Take: This is a prospect with a ton of upside. What was good to see is the raw tools are beginning to turn into refined skill. Bates-Diop has a lot of athleticism, and now is improving his shot making and ball handling. He helped the Wolves to a great showing, and was one of the best players in his age group with a ton of untapped potential still to go.

Recruiting: Illinois, Purdue, DePaul, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Northwestern

Size: 6-4/175 |
Quick Take:Thomas was beginning to build a national reputation heading into the weekend, and now it is for sure. He played himself into top 100 status, and showed why so many schools are beginning to take notice of him. Thomas is a great shooter, but he proved to be a solid athlete who can also handle the ball fairly well.

Recruiting: Wisconsin, Virginia, Iowa State, Marquette, Northwestern

Size: 7-6/185 |
Quick Take: This is a player who is on nobody's radar, and posted only modest numbers during the high school season. Still he has the athleticism and length to be a contributor in college at the right level. He rebounds the ball very well and is active finishing above the rim. If he can replicate this performance again his recruitment should explode.

Size: 7-6/215 |
Quick Take:He is an undersized power forward, but he is a darn good one. Proving that height inst indicative of rebounding ability, Adekyoa dominated the glass and really helped get the best of opposing frontcourts. Also he showed some ability to hit the mid-range jumper, but still his bread and butter is down low using his high motor and athleticism to get things done on both ends of the floor.

Recruiting: Detroit, Ohio, Toledo, Valparaiso, Akron, Oregon State, DePaul, Northwestern, Loyola-Ill

Size: 6-10/170 |
Quick Take: Clearly he is an undervalued point guard in a class where many people are searching for a floor general. Garrett can score, but it is his quickness and ability to find others that stand out. Also he is a pest on the defensive end, and really knows how to push the pace in order to get easy buckets. He had a huge showing for his TP Elite squad.

Recruiting: USC, Marquette, Arkansas, Idaho State, Creighton, South Dakota, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Size: 6-3/175 |
Quick Take: For the most part Covington was an unknown before the weekend. However he can make shots, is a good athlete, and can defend multiple positions. He had an excellent showing with the St. Louis Eagles, and schools better jump on him quick as when the EYBL comes he will become someone who garners a ton of attention.

Recruiting: Murray State, Iowa, Wisconsin
