Levert asks for release

The lone class of 2012 signee for the Ohio Bobcats will be looking at new options.

Maybe no senior in the state of Ohio had a bigger season than Caris LeVert. The Pickerington (OH) Central standout led his team to a state title and in the process proved he could play at a high level.

Levert initially committed to and signed with Ohio University and head coach John Groce. Groce however left his post for the head coaching job at Illinois.

Now according to Pickerington Central head coach Jerry Francis, Levert will explore all of his options.

"We requested a release for Caris from Ohio University," said Francis. "Coach (Jim) Christian was gracious enough to grant him a release so we are in the process of getting all of that paperwork done now."

Francis continued, "Until all the paperwork is final no schools can contact Caris so there is no information to give there, but that should happen in the next week or so."

With Levert getting out of his letter of intent and entering the open market, look for a player with his skill level and ability to score to get high-major interest.
