Finn Will Take His Time

Quite. Don't tell anyone, but Dedrick Finn of the Warrick Country AAU program is a Top 100 player. The secret is almost out of the bag about Finn as he gets set to play in the AAU Nationals in Orlando, Fla.

Four Schools Still Chasing Finn

When you decide to play with your AAU team at a tournament instead of at a camp like Nike or adidas you make a sacrifice. First and foremost, you sacrifice your chance to be seen by all of the college recruiters in a national setting. Secondly, it becomes clear to everyone that you just put your team goals ahead of any individual goals and that speaks volumes.

In early July, Castle (IN) High PG Dedrick Finn skipped Nike Camp in favor of playing with his boys from Warrick Country AAU at the BCI Nationals. Just to make sure skipping Nike was worth the effort, Finn's team won the BCI Nationals and he was named MVP. The following week, Warrick County lost to eventual champion the Tallahassee Wildcats, in the Great American Shootout.

Finn's father said that Xavier and Michigan State are his two leading schools. But, they are also looking at Boston College and Mississippi State. Dad says that he's going to make some official visits early in the school year.

Derrick Finn, Dedric's father, is fully aware of the situation. Point guards are dropping left and right and there's an arms race being waged right now to make sure you aren't left standing when the music stops. Despite this Finn won't be rushed into making a choice.

"We fully understand the timetable for a decision might conflict," Derrick Finn said. "I hope we don't hurt ourselves in that situation, but we have to look at some schools and need our time."
