Bucks scores Della Valle

Amedeo Della Valle's decision is in. He'll leave the west coast for the midwest and the Big Ten.

When Amedeo Della Valle came to the United States from Italy, the interest from college programs poured in.

On Saturday, the 6-foot-5 guard out of Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, announced for Ohio State, picking Thad Matta's team over strong interest from a host of schools including Arizona, Saint Mary's, Texas A&M and others.

"Level of competition, teammates, coaches and environment," Della Valle said when asked about why he picked OSU. "I feel it is the best place [for me] to be successful."

A guard with good size, Della Valle can play a variety of positions becasue of his overall skill set and ability to shoot the ball from long range. Findlay coach Todd Simon describted him as a "winner."

"Amedeo is a big guard that can really shoot it," Simon said. "He has a very hihg IQ and is very active. He's a gym rat and a winner."

Della Valle is the first commit for the Buckeyes in the 2012 recruiting class.
