Etu ready for big summer

Not a lot of people have seen Junior Etu, but the 6-foot-7 forward looks ready to have a big summer on the AAU circuit with DC Assault.

Four-star prospect and rebounding stud Junior Etu is hoping to have a big summer. The 6-foot-7 power forward from Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell is running with D.C. Assault, and hopes to make a big impression on people with his high energy style of play.

It was a high school season of change for Etu. The powerful forward decided to move from Florida to Virginia, and also had to recover from an injured foot.

"It was a great season, but I had to transfer in February from Arlington Country Day to Bishop O'Connell High School so I couldn't help my team in Florida during the state playoffs," said Etu.

Etu injured his foot during the season and missed a lot of time, but now he says he is back and working to become 100 percent.

"I feel I will be back 100 percent soon," said Etu. "I have been out a couple of months, but I will be back soon."

Right now numerous schools are showing Etu a lot of attention, but one school is recruiting him the hardest.

"I have Miami, Memphis, Kansas, Florida, West Virginia, and Maryland," listed Etu. "Maryland is the school recruiting me the hardest."

While he says he has no favorites, Etu did share what stands out about Maryland and how they have recruited him.

"They are a great school and the coaches have been talking to me a lot," said Etu.

Currently the No. 90 prospect in the country, Etu says he will be looking for a school with a history of winning.

"I am looking for a school with a good tradition, that is important to me," said Etu.

For now look for him to just go out and play, and while a lot of coaches haven't seen him yet, there could be some definite buzz about him following the spring.
