McLaughlin Picking Up Offers

Jordan McLaughlin, a sophomore point guard out of Southern California, has offers from a couple local schools...

Jordan McLaughlin, 5-11 SO PG Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Etiwanda, is an explosive lead guard with the ability to get his own shot as well as create for others. He's got deep range on his shot and he's adept at getting into the lane and finishing against size. He's one of the elite prospects in the west for 2014.

I spoke with McLaughlin recently and asked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"UCLA, USC, UConn, Syracuse, Arizona, some other Pac-12 schools and San Francisco," said McLaughlin.

When asked which schools have offered, McLaughlin replied, "UCLA, USC and USF."

McLaughlin said he has no leader at this time.

"I don't have a leader, I'd like to look at some of the East schools," said McLaughlin. "But UCLA would be a good look beause of all the point guards they get to the NBA."

I asked McLaughlin about the factors he will consider when he picks a school.

"I'm going to look at the school, the basketball team and style of play," said McLaughlin. "The location isn't real important."

McLaughlin has taken an unofficial visit to Arizona and said he plans on visiting other schools soon.

"I'm going to call UCLA next week and set up a date to visit there," said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin said he's in no hurry to reach a decision.

"I want to take my time and look at all the factors," said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin said he has a 3.7 GPA.
