Rebels Land 2004 Commitment

Ole Miss is officially on the board in the Class of 2004. This week, Rod Barnes and the Rebels reached into Arkansas and grabbed a big man prospect.

Rod Barnes and the Mississippi staff have their first commitment from the Class of 2004. Gosnell (AR) High standout Jeremy Parnell, an all-state performer from a year ago, committed to Mississippi this week.

"I don't know that he had anybody in mind since they started [receiving interest] but since they started that's who he's wanted to play for," Gosnell head coach Len Whitehead said. The coach also said that his star received recruiting attention from Arkansas, Illinois, LSU and Arkansas State.

Parnell plays the power forward and center spots for the Arkansas Wings. "I think he's going to be a defensive stopper and an excellent rebounder," Whitehead said. "His offense needs a little bit of work but he has the skills to be there. They talk like he'll be playing in the five spot."

As a junior, Parnell averaged 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
