2013 Intro: Marcus Allen

Marcus Allen, a talented 2013 prospect out of Las Vegas, has picked up a few offers....

Marcus Allen, 6-2 SR PG/SG Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial, is one of the better guards in the West Coast class of 2013. He's got good quickness, with solid ball skills and a nice feel for the game. It's possible he will play either guard spot at the next level.

I spoke with Allen recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in touch with him.

"I'm hearing from Stanford, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Arizona and Colorado," said Allen. "As far as offers, I have offers from Northern Arizona, Santa Clara, Drake, San Francisco and a few others."

I asked Allen if he has a leader.

"No, I'm totally open right now," said Allen. "I'm not even sure yet."

Allen talked a little about the factors he will consider when picking a school.

"Academics are very important," said Allen. "I take pride in my grades. Then I'm looking at the coaching and someplace where I can improve over four years. The location doesn't really matter."

Allen has taken a few unofficial visits.

"I've been to Santa Clara and Stanford," said Allen. "My Mom went to Stanford, so I'm there all the time."

I asked Allen if there are any schools he'd like to visit.

"I'd like to see Georgia Tech, Drake and USF," said Allen.

Allen said he would like to make his decision either in August or by the fall. He said he has a 4.7 GPA.
