After contemplating the move for a few weeks, Collins, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound lead guard out of Massanutten Military Academy, opted to move out of the 2013 class and into the 2012 class.
"I just felt like I was ready for the next step," Collins told Scout.com about the move. "I think I'm ready to make the transition to college next year."
Collins, who had plenty of college interest in the 2013 class, had a pretty good idea that there would be a host of schools interested once he made the move official.
"I've had schools that have asked if it was possibility," Collins said. "It was basically a decision that me, my AAU coach and my dad made. I just had a feeling that I was ready to come. I knew if I made the decision I would have schools that wanted."
"We are talking about me starting to take visits next week," Collins said. "We haven't set up any official dates yet."
"I know for sure I'm visiting Cincinnati, UCF and LSU," Collins added.
Collins said he's already developed a relationship with those three schools.
"They built a relationship," he said. "I really value the opinion of my AAU coach and my AAU coach has a really good relationship with those schools from previous players. The opportunity to play right away is there."
Collins doesn't have a timetable for his decision.
