James is back open

After an early commitment and a staff change at Illinois, Jalen James is back open.

In June of 2011 at the Illinois team camp, Jalen James received an offer from the Fighting Illini. It didn't take him much time to accept the offer and issue his verbal commitment.

Only 11 months later following a coaching change, James is now back on the open market according to Illinois Wolves AAU coach Mike Mullins.

"Illinois Wolves 2013 point guard Jalen James will reopen his recruitment for the July evaluation period," said Mullins.

Mullins continued, "This decision was made by Jalen and his family after discussions with the new head coach John Groce. Jalen wishes the Illinois team and program well and is excited for the July period and new opportunities."

James is a big point guard who is a capable shot maker. He is considered a three-star prospect.
