Harris Picks SEC Program

Damien Harris is headed to the SEC. Provided a fall visit goes well, Harris has made up his mind as he made a commitment this week.

Unless something goes absolutely haywire, Damien Harris will be a Volunteer in the fall of 2004. Earlier this week, Harris told the Tennessee staff that he wants to play in Knoxville.

Harris said that for all intents and purposes, we can count him as a Volunteer. He'll take his official visit in the fall and provided his mom signs off on the idea, the deal will be done. Harris doesn't anticipate any hang-ups.

"When we go on the visit, that's pretty much a lock," Harris said. "The decision is not written in stone. It's pretty much a done deal and Buzz knows it." However, the 6-9 big man considers himself committed and that's really all that matters.

South Carolina, Georgia, Clemson and Xavier were the other schools who coveted Harris who averaged 15 and 14 last year.

"I really liked them from the beginning. [Committing has] been in the back of my mind. Right off the bat, Buzz told my mom how he rededicated his life to God. He's a Christian and a great man. I know he's a great coach. I went down for the Alabama game and they just showed me so much love."

Harris is on the shelf right now. He's nursing a torn ligament in his finger but you could see him at the Big Time with the AAU team Who's Who.
