Namon Wright Update

Namon Wright, an elite 2014 shooting guard out of Southern California, has a handful of offers from West Coast programs...

Namon Wright, 6-4 SO SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Pacific Hills, is one of the elite prospects in the West Coast class of 2014. He's got a solid body, a very good feel, above average athleticism and good ball skills. With continued development, he figures to be among the top players nationally in 2014.

I spoke with Wright recently and he gave me a rundown on his recruitment.

"I have offers from Fresno State, Utah, USC, Gonzaga and New Mexico," said Wright. "Some other schools I'm hearing from are Stanford, UNLV and UC Irvine."

One local school that Wright hasn't heard from much is UCLA.

"I get some mail and stuff from them but haven't really talked much with them," said Wright.

Wright talked a little about the issues he will consider when picking a school.

"A combination of good basketball and good academics," said Wright. "I'd kind of like to stay on the West Coast where the weather is good. And early playing time is also important."

Wright has been to USC and Stanford for unofficial visits, but said he has no others planned at this time.

Wright said he's not sure about the timing of his decision.

"I don't really know when I'll decide," said Wright. "It might be during my senior year."

Wright said he has a 3.1 GPA.
