Etherington picks K-State

Kansas State Head Coach Bruce Weber landed a commitment from the state of Indiana on Father's Day.

Bruce Weber has tapped into his old contacts in the state of Illinois in the past while at Kansas State, and now he did it with Indiana. On Sunday Arcadia (Ind.) Hamilton Heights standout Alex Etherington picked the Big XII school.

Etherington, who is a very athletic 6-foot-5 combo forward, made a visit to Kansas State last week, and after talking things over with his family committed to the school according to Indiana Elite coach Mike Fox.

Coming into the spring Etherington had mostly low and mid-major interest, but a strong showing in Las Vegas at the adidas VIP Run put him firmly on the Kansas State radar.

Upon getting the offer from the Wildcats he immediately jumped them to the top of his list. The younger brother of current Indiana Hoosier Austin Etherington, Alex is more athletic than the former three-star prospect though not as good a shooter.

When he is at his best Etherington is slashing to the rim and finishing with big time explosion. Also he has improved as a shooter since the high school season.

Etherington is the first commitment for Kansas State in the 2013 class.
