At 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds with elite athleticism and shot making ability, Young has asserted himself as one of the premier players in the 2013 class. With that he was invited to the Kevin Durant Skills Academy.
"It is a great camp," said Young of the Skills Academy. "There are a lot of great guys out here. I am just trying to get better."
On June 15, Young had a busy day with his phone buzzing. According to Young a lot of schools made sure to let him know he was wanted.
"It was blowing up like crazy," said Young of his phone. "I am blessed because a lot of kids don't have that opportunity. It is a great experience."
The one school most consistently linked with Young is Kentucky. He has often stated his fondness for the school, and with an offer in hand nothing has changed.
"I still want to go there, but I have my options open to everything," said Young of UK. "I like Kentucky a lot and they get guys to the next level, but I am still open."
Along with Kentucky, Michigan State also tends to get a lot of mention with Young.
"They are very interested in me," Young said of the Spartans. "I have been looking up to Michigan State since I was a little kid so it is an honor to hear from them."
Also Ohio State is making sure to make a strong run at the five-star prospect.
"They say they want me bad," said Young. "I like Ohio State a lot. They are recruiting me real hard right now."
For now Young is focused on getting ready for July, and that means one tournament in particular.
"Peach Jam man," said Young of what he is looking forward to in July. "I am going out there to play hard so everybody better watch out."
