Dunlap picks Bulldogs

Mississippi State is on the board in 2014 with their first commitment.

Head Coach Rick Ray is working hard to secure some of the top talent in the state of Mississippi. The Bulldogs boss got an initial pledge on Wednesday night from Greenwood (MS) Amanda Elzy combo guard Maurice Dunlap.

"Yes Maurice has committed to Mississippi State," confirmed his mother via telephone.

Dunlap himself added, "I liked the coaches they are great guys. They paid attention to me as a student and a basketball player. I felt the education was right for me."

Dunlap is a 6-foot-1 guard known for his ability to score and handle the basketball along with solid athleticism.

"I love to get up and down the court, and he has told me that is what they want to do so I like it," said Dunlap of how he fits in.

Being the first in-state commitment to Ray and his staff is something that Dunlap takes pride in.

"I feel good being one of his first commitments," said Dunlap. "The program has gone through a lot and I hope I can lead them back."

This is the first pledge for Ray and his staff in 2014.
