Recruitment picks up for Facey

Kentan Facey was among the prospects that saw his recruitment take off following the first evaluation period. Who is in the mix? Facey's travel team coach discusses the recent developments.

Kentan Facey was among the big winners in the first of three evaluation periods.

"His recruitment is crazy right now," New Rens coach Karriem Memminger told Scout.com.

Facey, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward out of Brookville (N.Y.) Long Island Lutheran, had a solid outing at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas and then followed it up with impressive play at the adidas Invitational.

"He's very hot right now," Memminger said. "All he truly did was turn that corner and I believe the camps from Amare to LeBron changed his confidence. He has a different swagger about him. He looks stronger."

"He's an athletic four," he added about his game. "He shoots it well from outside. He handles it pretty well. He's lightning quick and is very bouncy. He attacks the tin and looks to dunk everything."

Since the first period ended the calls have poured in.

"He had a couple of offers from St. John's and Connecticut, but I'm not sure it was concrete," Memminger said. "They offered him based on potential. He went from Atlantic 10 and schools like Marist and Drexel to strictly high majors now."

"Everyone offered in the Big East and Atlantic 10, plus Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, USC and UCLA," he said. "Kentucky watched him in Indy. Calipari is coming to see him in Philly and in Las Vegas."

Memminger also mentioned strong interest from Louisville, Memphis, Georgetown, Xavier, Duquesne, Pittsburgh, VCU and Rhode Island.
