2014 Intro: Robert Cartwright

Robert Cartwright, one of the top point guards in the West Coast class of 2014, has a few early offers...

Robert Cartwright, 6-1 JR PG La Canada (Calif.) Flintridge Prep, is one of the top guards in the west for 2014. A true point, Cartwright has a terrific feel, great intangibles and a nice stroke with three-point range.

I spoke with Cartwright recently and he gave me a rundown on the schools recruiting him.

"I'm hearing from San Diego, Cal Poly, Rice, UC Irvine, Hawaii, Pepperdine and Eastern Washington," said Cartwright. "San Diego, Cal Poly and Eastern Washington have offered."

Cartwright talked a little about the issues important to his decision.

"I want a good academic school and a place where I feel at home," said Cartwright. "A great university and program, and a place where I can definitely play a lot."

I asked Cartwright if location is an issue for him.

"No, not really," said Cartwright. "It would be great for my family to be able to see me, but it's not that big a deal."

I asked Cartwright if he has a time frame for picking a school.

"I don't want to rush it," said Cartwright. "But if it feels right I would consider committing early."

When asked if he has a feel for which schools are recruiting him the hardest, Cartwright said, "Rice, San Diego and Cal Poly are recruiting me the hardest so far."

Cartwright said he has a 3.5 GPA.
