Booker updates his recruitment

Devin Booker is one of the more highly sought after 2014 prospects in the nation. The No. 19 player in the class has coaches tracking his every move.

For five-star shooting guard Devin Booker it has been a busy summer. The Michigan native who is now in Mississippi has been all over the camp circuit to go along with playing on both of his AAU teams, the Alabama Challenge and Grand Rapids Storm. Also Booker has schools in constant contact hoping to land his services.

"It has been going well," said Booker of the summer. "Durant Camp, LeBron Camp, and now I am down here. It is a live period now and the coaches are out here so you have to give them what they want."

He continued, "I learned a lot at those camps. They have the best teachers there like Kevin Eastman and John Lucas. John Lucas was a No.1 draft pick. They tell you and show you the things that most kids don't get to see."

Recruiting wise things have been fairly steady for Booker. The 6-foot-3 guard has a hoard of coaches following him every game.

"Missouri, Michigan, Georgetown, Florida, North Carolina, Stanford, Mississippi State, Mississippi, and Michigan State are all contacting me," said Booker.

Following the Kevin Durant Skills Academy, Booker was scheduled to visit Michigan State, but he says that trip didn't end up happening.

"I didn't get to visit there. Coach (Tom) Izzo had to do something," said Booker. "So I am going to re-schedule for when I get back from here and before I go back to Mississippi."

One school often linked to Booker is Missouri. Missouri is where his dad played, however Booker says his father isn't going to push him to the school.

"He doesn't really care where I go," Booker explained. "If Missouri best fits me that is great. I know he is going to guide me the right way. I mean he is my dad. He got me to where I am now. If Missouri is the best fit, that is where I will go."

When it comes to North Carolina, Booker says the Tar Heels have been showing some attention and are in evaluation mode.

"Before the summer they said they will be following me, and now they have been to three games," explained Booker. "We have talked on the phone a couple of times, but for now that is it."

Two of the schools that have been most active are Mississippi State and Michigan.

"They are both kind of hometown schools since I live in Michigan and Mississippi," Booker explained.

He continued, "Michigan has been there from the start. They have been there from day one. I have been to campus three times. There coaches have also been at all the games."

Then about the Bulldogs he said, "Mississippi State, I haven't been to campus yet, but that is something I will try to do when I get back down there with my dad."

For now outside of the trip to Michigan State, Booker says nothing is planned for August though he could make some trips during the fall.
