Jackson Picks Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks are on the board in 2004. Darnell Jackson of Midwest City picked Kansas on Friday night.

It matters little that Darnell Jackson has only played basketball since the 9th grade. He's got good enough for Kansas in a short time span.

On Friday, upon returning home from the Nike All-American Camp, Jackson picked up the phone and gave the Jayhawks the good word.

"This is like a fairly tale," Shawn Jackson, Darnell's mother said. "Darnell loved Kansas but I didn't think Roy Williams was going to offer him. We love Bill Self. When he went to Kansas, I told him to please leave his options open."

Jackson's options were plentiful. They included Oklahoma, Arizona, Purdue, Illinois and New Mexico.

"Kansas is the school that he truly, truly wanted."
