More Schools On Allen

Marcus Allen, the #1 PG in the west for 2103, has new schools expressing interest in him after a stellar July...

Marcus Allen, 6-2 PG/SG Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial, is the top point guard prospect in the west for 2013. An explosive athlete, and very productive scorer, Allen is more of a combo than true one at this time. However, he's got the size and quickness to defend the one, and his ball skills, feel and vision are good enough to project him as a point guard down the road. With his scoring ability and strength, it's quite possible that Allen could play the two as well.

I spoke with Allen recently and asked about the schools that he's been hearing from since the end of the evaluation period.

"UCLA, Utah, UTEP, Cal, Washington State, Cal Poly, St. Louis, Rice, Harvard and Santa Clara," said Allen.

Allen has been recruited by most schools as a package deal with his brother Malcolm. However, he told me a few weeks ago that he was open to attending school separately from his brother for the right situation. He said UCLA would be one such situation.

"They said they like my game and they want to get me out there," said Allen. "They said they want to offer once they figure out what's going on with their point guard situation. They want me to come out there sometime in September for an official. I would consider going there by myself."

Stanford is another school that has been on both Marcus and Malcolm in the past. I asked what the Cardinal have been saying to the brothers.

"They've been saying they only have one scholarship for a guard," said Allen. "So they've been talking about one scholarship and a walk-on situation."

Allen has been on unofficial visits to San Francisco, Santa Clara and Stanford. He said he has one official visit lined up so far.

"We're going to Harvard on September 13th," said Allen.

When asked if he plans on signing in the fall, Allen said "the plan is to sign in November, but it just depends on the schools."
