Long Island Panthers vs. New York Ravens

Michigan Mustangs vs. Baltimore Select

News and Notes …

Providence commitment Donnie McGrath is nursing a sprained ankle. Expect him to play in the quarters when two New York teams square off in a war for bragging rights. … Seton Hall head coach Louis Orr and Pitt's Ben Howland were in attendance watching swingman Ed Turner. …

Syracuse remains in the hunt, as does The Hall for NY PF Matt Gorman. Maryland is also on his list but may be backing off (?). Can Western Kentucky actually snag him? We'll see. …

In Juco news, we hear Cincinnati leads for forward Omari Westley of Barton County JC. Maryland, Alabama, Iowa State, Fresno State and Mississippi State are also recruiting him. … Nebraska head coach Barry Collier was in attendance watching his two commitments – Wes Wilkinson and Roy Enright. The stronger Enright fared better in the game we watched but the Huskers have a nice class. Nebraska Bison-Runza Red overcame a lack of team athleticism by shooting as many 3s as we've ever seen an AAU squad hoist up. They were a fun group to watch. …

NJ junior C Darryl Watkins, according to reports, is ineligible to play next season because he transferred from Passaic Tech to Paterson Catholic and it was viewed as a transfer for athletic purposes. Supposedly, he's ineligible for a season. … The best hands in the tournament? Try Florida-bound big man Mario Boggan. He has mitts like Kentucky big man Jason Parker. …

Sources are saying Arizona is moving on swingman Brandon Roy and if the Wildcats were to offer they would be tough to beat. …

Donyell Marshall Foundation C Dave Mallon says St. Joe's, Rhode Island, Pittsburgh, Canisius, Niagara and Siena have offered. UMass is also in the mix. He's certainly worthy of a long look because he's huge, a little skinny, but has skills.

Gym Rats swingman Dominick Mejia says Seton Hall, Illinois, Rutgers, St. Joe's, Siena, Penn State and Marquette are looking at him. Penn State has reportedly offered.

Raleigh PG Shawan Robinson says he's filled out the application form for Stanford. That's certainly new news. He says Xavier, Clemson and Minnesota have offered and he wants to decide soon. Stay tuned to this one. Wake and Tennessee have also shown interest. …

The re-organization of individual player rankings will take place in early August and we can tell you that there will be some shake ups among the Top 25 players. Some kids have risen to the occasion during the all-important month of July. …
