Williams Picks Memphis

Shawne Williams is going to play for Memphis. Upon returning home from the Nike All-American Camp where he made a big splash, Williams made an even bigger splash in his hometown.

There was a time, not too long ago, when Shawne Williams said that he wasn't going to stay home. He said that he wanted out of Memphis and wasn't going to be a Tiger.

Times have changed.

On Friday, according to the Commercial Appeal, Williams changed his mind.

"Tell the Memphis fans I'm coming for sure," Williams told the newspaper. Cincinnati and Tennessee also pursued him heavily.

The commitment is a big one for the Tigers and it comes on the heels of a pledge last week from forward Robert Dozier. Williams is a McDonald's type talent.

He's ultra athletic and really uses that to make him a dangerous player. His perimeter game is not there yet but it's coming along nicely and he's a big time prospect.

His commitment gives the Tigers three on the books for the Class of 2004, including standout guard Darius Washington and the aforementioned Dozier.
