In the end it was prior relationships that helped Parker, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington, pick Mark Fox's squad.
"I had a great relationship with coach [Kwanza] Johnson," Parker told Scout.com. "He coached my older brother at Tulsa University, as well as Coach Fox he recruited my brother for Kansas State and they've stayed in contact. Plus being a southern boy Georgia and the campus felt like home."
When Parker, a three-star wing prospect, took his visit he felt comfortable with his surroundings.
"It just stuck out as a whole," Parker said. "[They have a] beautiful campus and facilities. I felt right at home."
"I think I'll fit in real well," he added. "The triangle focuses on a lot of mid-range scoring which I do well, as well as defense."
Parker is Georgia's second verbal pledge in the 2013 recruiting class. Parker joins Georgia native J.J. Frazier to make up their current class.
