Oklahoma gets local big man

Oklahoma picked up 6-foot-9, 230-pound big man Jacob Hammond Thursday afternoon during an unofficial visit.

Jacob Hammond has committed to Oklahoma.

During an unofficial visit to the school, Hammond, of OKC Sky Homeschool, gave Lon Kruger a verbal pledge.

"I really liked the campus a lot," Hammond told Scout.com. "I've taken a few unofficial visits up there. I connect real well with the coaches and the players and all that. I like the Big 12 a lot."

Hammond also considered Creighton, Missouri, Wake Forest, Tulsa and Oklahoma State.

"I went up there looking to commit," Hammond said just a few minutes after giving Oklahoma the nod.

"It's got to be the coaches, besides the coaches it'd probably be because it's close to home and I live an hour and a half or two years away," he added when pressed on his decision.

Hammond is a 6-foot-9, 230-pound 2014 prospect.
