Maurier Angui, 6-11 C Phoenix (Ariz.) Washington, had a very impressive performance yesterday at the Best of Summer and had a number of coaches talking about him after his game. He's very skinny, but he showed a great deal of improvement since the last time we saw him at the Pump spring tournament.
We spoke with Maurier after the game and he told us that UTEP, Rice, St. Mary's, Santa Clara and USF have all been showing interest. He said that he doesn't have a leader and he's wide open.
Maurier, who has only been in the U.S. for one and half years, told us that he really doesn't know much about American colleges. "I'm just looking for a good team with good academics," Maurier said.
We asked if he had any geographical preference and Maurier replied, "No, it doesn't matter to me."
His AAU coach told us that Maurier has a 3.6 GPA and that he speaks seven languages.
