Jenkins commits to Villanova

Villanova scored a top 100 prospects on Sunday. Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga standout Kris Jenkins will play for Jay Wright and the Wildcats.

Kris Jenkins is off the board. After recently narrowing his list of schools to five, the 6-foot-6 power forward worked his way down to one.

Jenkins committed to Jay Wright and Villanova on Sunday.

"I picked Villanova because coach [Jay] Wright and the coaching staff presented me with a great opportunity and a great plan and it was something that I really couldn't turn down to go with a great education," Jenkins told Scout.com.

Jenkins, Scout.com's No. 74 overall prospect in the 2013 class, also strongly considered Clemson, Miami, Rutgers and Xavier. Jenkins took a recent trip to Villanova and trip helped firm up his decision.

"Going into that visit I had already known where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do," Jenkins told Scout.com.

"Just coming in, I can get a great a education and an opportunity to get better and chase all my childhood dreams and hopefully win a national championship at Villanova," he said.

Jenkins is Villanova's first pledge for the 2013 class.
